Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has officially introduced Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriese as his running mate for the upcoming December 7th elections.
The announcement took place during a press briefing in Kumasi, where Cheddar highlighted Dr. Kriese’s impressive qualifications and her potential to help transform Ghana’s future.
Dr. Kriese, a distinguished academic and expert in gender and development studies, is highly respected for her work in higher education.
She holds a BA in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Ghana and has advanced her studies abroad with a focus on development and gender issues.
Currently serving as a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. Kriese plays a crucial role in both teaching and research, contributing valuable insights to the fields of development and economics.
Her contributions extend far beyond academia. As a former senior manager at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), Ghana, Dr. Kriese played a pivotal role in regulating investments and shaping key financial policies.
Cheddar emphasised how her work in overseeing licensing and training financial professionals has been essential in promoting financial empowerment across Ghana.
Her academic contributions are equally significant, with over 10 published research papers primarily focused on economics. One of her prominent works, published in 2016, delves into the complexities of exchange rate forecasting within the West African Monetary Zone.
Her broad professional background, which includes experience in auditing, finance, and business administration, complements Cheddar’s vision for a revitalised Ghana.
In her remarks after the announcement, Dr. Kriese expressed her full support for Cheddar’s policy priorities, particularly the emphasis on job creation and opportunities for all citizens.
She underscored the importance of steering Ghana towards a future of inclusivity and economic growth, a goal she shares with Cheddar.
Together, they aim to offer a fresh and dynamic approach to leadership, with Dr. Kriese’s blend of academic and financial expertise standing as a key pillar in the New Force’s campaign to lead Ghana towards prosperity.
