A catastrophic collision on the Offinso-Abofuor Highway has resulted in seven fatalities, while dozens of others are fighting for their lives in critical condition.

The horrific crash, as recounted by witnesses, happened in the early hours of Wednesday, January 7, 2025, between the communities of Samproso and Awisam near Offinso.

Reports indicate a commercial bus (GT 5509-20), traveling from Techiman to Kumasi, smashed into a stationary cement-laden trailer (GN 5326-22). According to eyewitnesses speaking to OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng, the trailer had stalled after losing ignition while entering the main road. The approaching bus was unable to avoid the large vehicle parked in its path.

The impact was so severe that the bus was completely mangled. Six passengers died instantly at the scene, with the survivors sustaining grave, life-threatening injuries.

All victims, both the deceased and the injured, have been transported to Offinso Saint Patrick Hospital. Police have secured the area and are managing the crash site.
