The CEO of Ghana’s Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has publicly expressed keen interest in partnering with dancehall star Shatta Wale’s innovative ride-hailing platform, Shaxi.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Basintale directly reached out to Shatta Wale, suggesting a collaboration that would elevate Shaxi into a leading, fully Ghanaian-owned brand.
“Dear @shattawalegh, As CEO of YEA, my mind dey!!! Let’s partner to make shaxi, Ghanaian owned big. Hear from you soon!” Basintale tweeted.
This proposal came shortly after Shatta Wale shared a video calling on both government and private stakeholders to support and invest in Shaxi.
In his post, the Shatta Movement leader emphasized that Shaxi is more than just a ride-hailing service; it’s a youth empowerment movement aimed at creating jobs, fostering digital innovation, and tackling unemployment in Ghana’s transport sector.
“Thank you all for believing in the African dream. Shaxi represents a sustainable solution to unemployment and shows what can happen when creativity meets purpose,” Shatta Wale said.
With the YEA CEO’s backing, Shatta Wale’s vision for Shaxi as a homegrown solution for Ghanaian youth empowerment looks set to gain more momentum.
