Anyone thinking Shatta Wale has mellowed is in for a surprise. The dancehall star has made it clear that his personality remains exactly as it has always been, despite public claims that he has changed.
The discussions began after a dramatic moment at the 2025 Tidal Rave event, where his assistant, Abonko, prevented MC Kojo Manuel from getting close to the artiste on stage. The brief interaction exploded across social media, with many accusing Abonko of being unnecessarily aggressive and blaming Shatta Wale for encouraging behaviour that disrupted the concert.
As the criticism intensified, the Shatta Movement leader decided to tackle the conversation directly through a TikTok livestream. He addressed those he believes twist his actions or attempt to tarnish his reputation online, insisting that he would no longer ignore targeted attacks.
He explained that anyone who misrepresents him publicly should expect a strong reaction, adding that he intends to protect his brand — a brand he says he has worked tirelessly to build.
Beyond the immediate controversy, Shatta Wale also dismissed claims that he has softened over time. According to him, the perception that he has become more reserved is completely inaccurate. He stressed that he remains unchanged in character and that recent events have only emboldened him further.
The musician’s reaction has reignited debate on social media, with fans and critics clashing over whether the Tidal Rave incident was mishandled or simply blown out of proportion. What remains clear, however, is that Shatta Wale is not ready to adjust his approach to please his detractors — and he’s not pretending otherwise.
