Shatta Wale Slams Former Minister Amin Adam Over Betting Tax Remarks
Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has blasted former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam after the latter’s claim that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government never implemented a betting tax.
In a fiery Facebook post, Shatta Wale mocked Amin Adam’s use of the word “we,” suggesting that the former minister might have been referring to “Wee”—a popular local slang for marijuana. The outspoken musician accused the NPP government of introducing the tax and questioned why Amin Adam was distancing himself from it.
Shatta Wale’s post read, “Please sir, who is this ‘We’ you’re talking about? Or are you referring to ‘Wee’ because only that ‘Wee’ would be clueless enough to implement something like this. Wicked people like you could do that.” The post included a frustrated angry face emoji.
The dancehall artist further criticized Amin Adam for seeming to distance himself from the NPP, asking, “Did you forget you worked under the NPP government? Which ‘we’ are you talking about?”
He ended his post with a bold warning, demanding an apology from Amin Adam and threatening potential political consequences for the NPP if the apology was not forthcoming. “Don’t make me angry. Just apologize to Ghanaians, or your ‘We’ party will suffer come elections,” he added.
Shatta Wale’s comments have sparked heated debate online, with social media users weighing in on the controversial betting tax and its impact on Ghanaians, as well as the NPP government’s policies.
This post came in response to a statement made by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the 2025 budget, where he declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would abolish the betting tax, only for Mohammed Amin Adam to counter that no such tax was ever introduced under the NPP.
