The people of Asokore Mampong are reeling from a devastating loss after their revered chief, Nana Boakye Ansah Debra, passed away just days after the death of the Queen Mother, Nana Saman Diawuo.
The double tragedy has plunged the Nifa Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council into deep sorrow.
The announcement was made on March 18, 2025, by the Nifa Division and the Asokore Mampong Council. Speaking at at a press conference, Nkwantakesehene, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, confirmed the heartbreaking news, stating, “Nana Saman Diawuo, the Queen Mother of Asokore Mampong, has passed on. Just a few days later, our Chief, Nana Boakye Ansah Debra, also joined the ancestors.”
Nana Boakye Ansah Debra, a distinguished architect, led Asokore Mampong for 38 years, gaining widespread respect for his contributions to Asanteman.
His passing follows that of Nana Saman Diawuo, who served as Queen Mother for an impressive 52 years, dedicating her life to preserving tradition and guiding the community.
A one-week observance has been set for April 10, where the public is invited to honor their legacy.
