Shocking Twist in Immigration Officer’s Murder: New Evidence Emerges

The investigation into the brutal killing of Stephen King Amoah, an officer with the Immigration Service, has taken a decisive turn after his charred remains were discovered in a drainage ditch at Ashongman Estates.

Police have seized several pieces of evidence connected to the incident, which experts will analyze to uncover critical details about the crime. While a postmortem has been completed, authorities are still awaiting the full report before drawing final conclusions.

Efforts are underway to apprehend others believed to have played a role in the murder. This development led to a request for extending the remand period of the current suspect to allow further investigations.

On July 25, 2025, Bright Aweh—also referred to as Robert or by the alias “Highest Bright”—was formally charged in court as the key figure implicated in Amoah’s murder. The court recorded his plea after the charges were presented.

The timeline of events began on July 3, 2025, when Amoah vanished after heading out from his residence to meet Aweh at Ashongman Estates in Accra. Tragically, his burnt body was later discovered near Aboum Junction close to Kwabenya.

Investigators have linked the two men through exchanges on WhatsApp, where images of large sums of cash allegedly arranged a meeting meant to settle a financial dispute. Aweh claims to have handed over GHC 500,000 to Amoah as repayment for a debt and to keep some balance for himself, but his inconsistent statements have raised doubts.

Initially, Aweh was charged with kidnapping at the Kwabenya Circuit Court. A search of his home revealed disturbing evidence, including camouflage fabric stained with suspicious substances and a bloodied fufu pestle carefully wrapped in plastic.
