A horrifying incident occurred in Ekpoma, Edo State, when a shop owner caught a 21-year-old man, Ogbeide Joshua, allegedly raping her 9-year-old daughter.
The suspect, a 400-level student of Ambrose Alli University, was said to have been raping the minor for the fourth time.
According to reports, Joshua would often visit the shop to buy cigarettes, and on this particular day, he was caught in the act by the shop owner.
The mother was left traumatized, unable to intervene, and it was the swift action of neighbors that led to Joshua’s apprehension.
The young victim revealed that Joshua had threatened to kill her if she ever spoke out about the abuse. The suspect was eventually handed over to the Iruekpen Police Division, and an investigation is underway.
