The Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners has proposed a two per cent discount on the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod) pricing.

In a report on nationwide engagements on the GoldBod pricing mechanism and mining sector reforms, it said the discount and a new licensing regime would discourage gold hoarding and address market distortions.

The report was presented to the Chief Executive Officer of the Goldbod, Sammy Gyamfi, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The report reflects the input of miners and traditional authorities across mining districts.

Key findings point to strong stakeholder participation, increased support for responsible and licensed mining, active involvement of traditional authorities, and growing willingness among miners to formalise their operations.

The engagements aimed to improve understanding of regulatory reforms, clarify compliance requirements, and build confidence in GoldBod’s pricing and purchasing framework.

In reaction, Sammy Gyamfi, welcomed the report and reaffirmed GoldBod’s commitment to working with GNASSM and stakeholders to implement the recommendations.

He noted that sustained engagement remains critical to advancing formalisation, traceability, and value retention in Ghana’s gold sector.
