The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of Warrant Officer I (WOI) Williams Mensah following an assault on two civilians at a pharmacy in Burma Camp, Accra, on October 29, 2025. The incident, widely circulated on social media and television, showed the soldier physically attacking a shop attendant and a female customer.

The Ghana Military Police apprehended WOI Mensah at dawn on October 30, 2025. He is currently in custody and cooperating with investigations. The victims, a male and female pharmacy staff, have received medical attention and are assisting authorities in the inquiry.

Reports indicate the confrontation began after WOI Mensah demanded a refund of approximately GH¢65 for medicines previously purchased through a boy on his behalf. When the attendant explained that the drugs were non-refundable, the soldier physically assaulted both the attendant and the female customer.

The military has reiterated that violent behavior toward civilians by personnel will not be tolerated, and offenders will face disciplinary action. The arrest of WOI Mensah underscores the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to enforcing discipline and protecting civilians from misconduct.
