Ghanaian actor and vocal New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, Prince David Osei, has publicly criticized some pastors for issuing what he calls “false prophecies” after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured victory in the party’s 2026 presidential primaries. The win came despite a prediction by Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun that former MP Kennedy Agyapong would take the lead.

On Instagram, Osei shared a message cautioning against claiming divine authority for personal or political predictions. “Some of you pastors are honestly embarrassing God — speaking what He never said and walking around with pride like it’s a virtue,” he wrote. “No wonder so many believers now seek the face of Elohim for themselves. Trusting some pastors today feels like playing hide‑and‑seek with the devil.”

Osei framed his post around biblical warnings, citing scriptures from Galatians, Proverbs, Isaiah, and Jeremiah to underscore the dangers of misrepresenting God’s will. He reminded readers that being a pastor does not make one divine and that God’s glory cannot be shared with man. “Whenever a man tries to play God, the end is always the same — humiliation and destruction,” he noted.

The actor’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among Ghanaians frustrated with the intersection of religion and politics, where religious figures publicly endorse candidates or claim to predict electoral outcomes. Osei’s warning, grounded in scripture, is a call for discernment: “Test every spirit,” he urged, quoting 1 John 4:1.
