Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has shared a personal story about how his childhood dream of becoming a footballer was cut short by parental advice. Speaking during the presentation of the 2025 Democracy Cup trophy, Bagbin revealed that he was once deeply passionate about football and actively played the sport.

However, his father urged him to pursue a more traditional career path, leading him to study law and eventually enter politics.
