The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has reinforced his commitment to national development with a significant donation to the Upper West Region, supporting both emergency services and student leadership.

During a visit to the region, the Speaker presented GHC 100,000 to the Upper West Regional Office of the Ghana National Fire Service to enhance its operational capacity. The contribution is expected to improve emergency response efforts and strengthen the Service’s ability to protect lives and property.

Addressing personnel at the presentation, Mr. Bagbin highlighted the essential role of the Fire Service in maintaining public safety, especially amid rising incidents of fire outbreaks and road accidents. He noted that the donation, though modest, is aimed at supporting logistics and improving staff welfare.

“We cannot underestimate the importance of a well-resourced fire service. This contribution is a token of appreciation for your dedication and a call to continue your sterling work,” he said.

In a related gesture, the Speaker extended support to the Nadowli Kaleo Students Union, donating GHC 10,000 and a laptop to aid its administrative and academic activities.

He encouraged the students to remain committed to their education and to use the resources to promote unity and development within the union.

Officials of the Fire Service expressed gratitude for the timely support, assuring that the funds would be used responsibly. Leaders of the Students Union also commended the Speaker for his continued investment in youth empowerment and education.

Residents and stakeholders in the Upper West Region have welcomed the gesture, describing it as a practical demonstration of responsive leadership and a boost to both public safety and student development.
