What began as a simple community gathering under the evening sky in Salamanca on Sunday, January 26, 2026, quickly descended into horror, as gunmen opened fire at a local soccer field in the ‘Loma de Flores’ neighborhood, killing 11 people and injuring 12 others.

According to reports, families had assembled at the pitch, a familiar space where children play, and neighbors connect when armed attackers stormed the area and unleashed a barrage of bullets.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as people scrambled for cover. Among the injured were a woman and a child, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of the assault.
