State Funeral Set for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings on November 28

A state funeral will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, to honour the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. The national event is scheduled to take place at Independence Square in Accra.

The ceremony, to be led by President John Dramani Mahama, will highlight her longstanding role in championing the rights of women and children, as well as her involvement in social and national development initiatives.

An announcement issued on November 6 by Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu outlined the arrangements for the funeral, describing it as a national recognition of her decades of public service and activism.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, who founded the 31st December Women’s Movement and served as First Lady during Ghana’s Fourth Republic, passed away on October 23, 2025.

As preparations continue, the family has opened an invitation for members of the public to share tributes in her memory.
