Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare is the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry
The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has announced that steel prices will remain unchanged in the market, following the steady appreciation of the cedi and the government’s continued efforts to stabilise the economy.
According to her, Ghana’s macroeconomic indicators are showing positive signs of recovery, and it is important that these improvements are reflected across various markets.
Speaking at a press conference with steel manufacturers on January 23, 2026, in Accra, Ofosu-Adjare commended the manufacturers for their significant contributions to national development and economic growth, acknowledging their ongoing support in strengthening the Ghanaian economy.

She emphasised that steel manufacturers had raised several operational challenges and had requested government support to address them.
“You have decided to keep the price the same and, more importantly, to make the product available on the market. From today, steel products will be available at the same price,” she said.
The Minister further noted that the government had listened to the concerns raised by the manufacturers and would take the necessary steps to address them appropriately.
“I truly appreciate the fact that steel prices will not change. I value your sacrifice for the country. While the dollar is important, we agree that it is not the only component in your pricing structure. Overall, the macroeconomic environment is stable, the President has performed well, and you are supporting us,” she added.
