The All-Night Rituals That Will Keep Asantehene Busy on Night Asantehemaa is Buried
  • Nana Konadu Yiadom III, 14th Asantehemaa, will be buried on September 18, concluding her four-day burial rites.
  • The morning will see the Presidency, former presidents, diplomats, and the public paying respects at Manhyia Palace.
  • Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will perform final royal rites before the Queen Mother is laid in a gold and silver-decorated casket.
  • A burial service will follow at the forecourt of Manhyia Palace, scheduled to end around 4 pm.
  • Later, at 9 pm, the remains will be taken to Bantama Baamu for night rituals until midnight.
  • The remains will then be transported to Breman Baamu at Abusuakruwa for interment.
  • The King will return to Manhyia Palace for a traditional kete dance with his Aheneyere from 2 am to 4 am, concluding with ritual drinks.
  • At 5 am on Friday (Fofie), Otumfuo will undergo a purification ritual, after which he can wear white ceremonial attire.

The final day of Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s four-day funeral rites promises a meticulously planned sequence of events, beginning with a morning of public homage at Manhyia Palace on 18th September, 2025.

Members of the Presidency, former leaders, diplomats, and the general public will be present to pay their respects.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will conduct the final royal rituals before the late Queen Mother is placed in a casket adorned with gold and silver. Following these rites, a formal burial service will take place at the palace forecourt, concluding around 4 pm.

As night falls, the Queen Mother’s remains will be transported to Bantama Baamu for traditional ceremonies extending to midnight. Afterwards, she will be moved to Breman Baamu at Abusuakruwa, her final resting place.

The Asantehene will return to Manhyia Palace to lead the traditional kete dance with his Aheneyere from 2 am to 4 am, ending with ritual libations.

At 5 am the following Friday, he will undergo a purification ritual to allow him to wear ceremonial white attire, marking the completion of the sacred funeral proceedings.
