An environmental non-profit organisation, The Green Republic Project, has honoured finance and grant compliance specialist Stephen Sackey for his role in strengthening its financial governance and accountability systems.
The recognition, announced in Accra, highlights Mr Sackey’s contribution to enhancing compliance frameworks and improving transparency in the management of donor-funded programmes within the organisation.
The President of the organisation, Nana Osei Darkwa, commended Mr Sackey for his professionalism and dedication, noting that his work had a measurable impact on the organisation’s internal controls and governance structures.
“Mr. Sackey’s work played a critical role in reinforcing our financial compliance framework and ensuring that the organization met all regulatory requirements associated with donor-funded programs,” he stated. “His contributions helped ensure that the organization successfully passed external reviews and assessments relating to the utilization of grant funding.”
The Green Republic Project, which focuses on environmental protection, sustainability and climate awareness, works with communities and partners to implement programmes aimed at conservation, environmental education and climate resilience.
Mr Sackey, a finance and accounting professional, brings expertise in auditing, taxation, financial analytics and regulatory compliance. He holds professional qualifications from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), and the Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana (CITG), in addition to a degree in Economics and Political Science.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Accounting and Analytics at the University of Louisville in the United States.
The organisation presented a citation to him in absentia, as he is currently studying abroad.
According to the organisation, the systems and structures established under Mr Sackey’s guidance have strengthened its operational capacity and will continue to support effective delivery of environmental programmes.
The recognition, it added, reflects his broader commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and sound financial management practices within non-profit and development institutions.
