Suzzy Pinamang, the Ghanaian high school student who suffered a devastating eye injury during a shooting incident, has been given new hope after a successful medical review in London.

From September 10 to 16, 2025, she attended a scheduled follow-up at Moorfields Eye Hospital, three months after undergoing specialised eye surgery in June. The operation, as well as her ongoing treatment, has been fully financed by businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama, who stepped in when her story went viral earlier this year.

Doctors at Moorfields reported steady progress in her healing and vision recovery, expressing satisfaction with the surgical results. They recommended continued medical check-ups and protective care but cleared her to return to school. To make this possible, the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation has pledged to sponsor her enrolment into a new school as part of her rehabilitation process.

Her treatment journey has been supported by Ghanaian diplomatic officials in London, including the High Commission and the Foreign Affairs Ministry, who helped facilitate the arrangements. Pinamang was accompanied to the UK by her brother, a caregiver, and Rafik Mahama, the aide to Ibrahim Mahama, who supervised the logistics and ensured all expenses were covered.
