Firefighters from the Tamale Metro Fire Station have successfully contained a fire involving a container shop at Tishigu, opposite Alhassan Hotel, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures, including a mosque.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, a distress call was received at 10:50 am, and a firefighting crew led by ADO I Hamza Kanamu arrived at the scene within six minutes, at 10:56 am. Upon arrival, the team immediately commenced firefighting operations and swiftly brought the situation under control.
Following the coordinated response of the firefighters, the blaze was confined to the container shop, saving adjoining properties from damage.
The fire completely destroyed the container shop and its contents. No casualties were recorded.
Preliminary investigations by GNFS indicate that the fire was caused by the burning of rubbish close to the shop.
