The Tema Development Company has taken decisive action against a former protocol officer accused of illegally selling public land to his wife. The land, located in Tema Community 5 and designated for a public toilet, was reportedly sold for just GHS2,000.
The accused, who currently serves as the NPP’s Tema Central Constituency Secretary, was implicated in the transaction following an internal investigation. TDC’s Managing Director confirmed that the deal was uncovered through routine checks and that the officer’s contract was terminated as a result.
The land, situated behind Tema Secondary School, has since been reclaimed and restored for its original public use. TDC says the move is part of a broader effort to recover state lands that have been misappropriated or sold under questionable circumstances.
In a related development, the company is also working to resolve a dispute involving the Peaceful Settlers’ Association and the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly. The association claims its lands are being targeted despite a court injunction, prompting TDC to initiate stakeholder engagements aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution.
The company has reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible land management as it continues to audit and recover plots across the region.
