The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has welcomed the suspension of the strike action declared by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), effective from Saturday, February 14, 2026.
According a press release issued on Sunday, February 15, the industrial action, which began on November 24, 2025, was called off following the Government’s release of funds to settle outstanding entitlements owed to college teachers.
These include year-round work compensation as well as arrears related to book and research allowances. CETAG has consequently directed its members to resume academic activities starting Monday, February 16, 2026.
TTAG expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of Ghana, CETAG, the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF), and other stakeholders responsible for teacher education.
The association credited these collective efforts with making the resolution possible.
TTAG also emphasised confidence that sustainable policies will be put in place to ensure the smooth running of Colleges of Education and to prevent any future disruptions.
“We remain confident that sustainable policies will be implemented to safeguard the smooth running of Colleges of Education and prevent future disruptions,” the statement read.
The association urged all teacher trainees to resume their academic work with renewed focus, discipline, and commitment.
It noted that this period requires seriousness of purpose and close cooperation with college authorities to recover lost time and ensure steady academic progression.

Reaffirming its dedication to protecting the academic interests and welfare of teacher trainees nationwide, TTAG concluded by calling for unity and diligence as normal academic activities recommence.
“We reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the academic interests and welfare of Teacher Trainees nationwide,” the statement concluded.
