Family members were overcome with grief during the burial service
Private Collins Sarfo Agyapong, a military officer with the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) who lost his life after his team’s vehicle was involved in an accident has been laid to rest.
A video shared by the State News on Saturday, December 20, 2025, captured scenes from the funeral.
His mother and other family members couldn’t hold back their tears during the solemn burial service.

The caption accompanying the video read, “Yesterday, the mother and family of the late Private Collins Sarfo Agyapong laid him to rest after he tragically died in an accident during the Naimos operation against galamsey in Obuasi.”
The accident occurred on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, while the team was heading to Obuasi after an operation at a concession in Anyankyerim, which has been taken over by illegal miners.
NAIMOS officer dead, four injured in crash during anti-galamsey operation
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle somersaulted between the Anyankyerim community and the Airport Road.
The concession in question, which belongs to Mining and Construction Services Limited, has been the subject of contention after some illegal miners invaded the area, claiming it was allocated to them by the NDC government.
