Tears Flow in Yeji as 8 Confirmed Dead in Gruesome Mini Bus Accident

A horrific road crash on the Yeji-Kumasi Highway in Ghana’s Bono East Region has left eight people dead and eleven others in critical condition, throwing the Pru East District into mourning.

The tragic accident occurred near Nyumuase and involved a mini bus bearing registration number AS 4360-23. The vehicle was transporting 19 passengers from Ejura in the Ashanti Region to Yeji when the driver reportedly lost control, leading to the fatal crash.

Authorities confirmed that all the passengers on board were businessmen, primarily involved in the cattle trade. They were returning from the Ejura market when the tragedy struck.

According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at Yeji St. Mathias Hospital, where the injured victims are also receiving treatment. Hospital sources say the injured are responding positively to medical care.

Pru East District Chief Executive, Mr. Abdul Nasir Dauda, confirmed the devastating news and extended his condolences to the affected families. He also used the moment to caution drivers against overspeeding, urging more responsible behavior on the roads to avoid such disasters in the future.

The community of Yeji is reeling from the loss, as the deceased were reportedly well-known traders whose absence will be deeply felt.
