Quadri Alabi, the teenager who once went viral during the 2023 political campaign season, has opened up about the harrowing experience he endured after being arrested and thrown into KiriKiri prison.
After gaining national attention for his involvement in a campaign rally for Peter Obi, Quadri found himself at the center of unexpected hostility from individuals in his neighborhood. According to his account, envy began to grow after the campaign moment brought him fame, with some people demanding a share of the money they believed he had received from the politician.
Despite his mother’s refusal to entertain their threats, things escalated quickly. Quadri revealed that he was eventually targeted by area boys who, out of spite, allegedly framed him for robbery and destruction of property. This led to his arrest while returning from work as a motor boy, transporting fish to Port Harcourt.
Unaware of a previous fight that had broken out in his area, he said he was ambushed and handed over to the police by the area boys who falsely identified him as one of the culprits involved. He was then detained alongside four older men he had never met before.
Quadri described his time in prison as torturous. With no money to offer prison wardens, he said he was subjected to degrading tasks, including being forced to clean human waste daily. He described the experience as a nightmare, likening it to living in hell.
His story, now gaining attention once again, has sparked conversations about wrongful arrests, abuse of power, and the vulnerability of young people in environments plagued by envy and lawlessness.
