Teenagers Caught After Stealing Church Generator Battery

Two young men have landed in police custody after allegedly stealing a generator battery from a church in Yola North, Adamawa State.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Dad Yusuf and 17-year-old Gibson Husseini, both residents of Upper Luggere in Jimeta, were apprehended by officers from the State Intelligence Department on June 28, 2025.

Investigations revealed that the duo was behind the theft of a 100Ah Mikano generator battery, which they reportedly removed from the LCCN Cathedral in Jimeta around 11:00 p.m. on June 23.

Following their arrest, both individuals admitted to committing the crime. Authorities are now expanding their probe to determine whether more people were involved and to recover any additional stolen property.

According to the police, further action will be taken once investigations are completed, including preparing the suspects to face formal charges in court.
