The Ministry of Roads and Highways, in collaboration with the Department of Urban Roads, has issued a notice to motorists about temporary traffic changes along Obuasi Road, particularly in the section near Opoku Ware Senior High School (SHS). The adjustment is to allow for the installation of a new pedestrian footbridge between November 1 and November 2, 2025, from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. each night.
The planned closure is necessary to provide space for crane operations and the lifting of the bridge’s structural components. Road users are being urged to follow all traffic diversion signs and directions to ensure safety and minimize congestion during the exercise.
Personnel from the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) will be stationed at key points to control traffic flow and assist drivers navigating the affected area.
The footbridge forms part of a broader road safety enhancement initiative targeting accident-prone zones, with the goal of improving pedestrian movement and reducing road casualties.
The Ministry has expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation during this brief disruption, emphasizing that the project is an essential step toward safer roads and smoother transportation in the Obuasi corridor.
