In the bustling Abule Egba area of Lagos State, a man, still yet to be identified, found himself in a precarious situation when he sustained injuries as a result of being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
This man, suspected to be a thief, was in the midst of attempting to flee a group of angered residents who had caught him burglarizing an apartment in the community during the early hours of Friday, setting off a chase that ultimately led to his unfortunate collision.
Eyewitnesses who were present at the scene recounted how the suspect, in a bid to evade capture, dashed across the expressway, only to tragically meet the wayward path of a speeding vehicle, resulting in his grievous injuries.
Consequently, he was discovered lying unconscious on the road days later, his body bearing visible signs of the encounter in the form of swelling and bruises.
“We met him there on Friday morning and he has been there since then. We were told that he was caught scaling a fence at midnight and those who saw him decided to chase him. He was trying to run across to the other side when he ran into a vehicle that knocked him down.”
“We saw him this morning on the main road. It was later that some LASTMA officials came to put a tyre behind him as a caution to prevent vehicles from climbing him.”
