Martin Kpebu (R) has called on Nana Akufo-Addo (L) to persuade Ken Ofori-Atta

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene and persuade former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana and face justice.

Speaking on TV3’s The Key Points on Saturday, January 10, 2026, Kpebu said the current situation provides the ideal opportunity for the former president to play a role in resolving the ongoing legal and political controversy surrounding Ofori-Atta.

“This is the best time for us to call on former President Akufo-Addo to prevail on Ken Ofori-Atta to come home and face justice,” Kpebu said.

He stressed that Ofori-Atta, who is wanted in Ghana on multiple corruption-related charges, should confront the allegations directly, rather than prolonging the dispute abroad.

Ghanaian authorities had previously requested his extradition in connection with dozens of charges, including conspiracy to commit procurement fraud and causing financial loss to the state.

His lawyers argue that the allegations are politically motivated and have pledged to challenge any extradition request, while emphasising his commitment to comply with Ghanaian laws.

Kpebu’s comments come amid a growing chorus of political leaders and civil society figures urging Ofori-Atta to return and answer the charges against him.
