Three Dead, Several Injured — Homowo Festival Marred by Palace Violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the detention of two suspects linked to the violent clashes that broke out at the Chief’s Palace on August 30. The incident left three people dead and several others wounded, casting a shadow over what should have been a celebration of tradition and unity.

Christian Saka Ahianyevi, a 35-year-old private security officer, was arrested on the day of the violence. Newton Alotey, a 26-year-old dispatch rider, was picked up the following day. Both men are believed to have played key roles in the chaos.

During the arrests, police recovered 18 spent BB cartridges from Alotey, while Ahianyevi was found with a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits. All items have been secured as evidence.

The suspects are currently in custody, assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, police have reinforced security in the affected communities to prevent further unrest.
