The alleged perpetrator, identified only as Akaima, a Liberian national, is said to have committed the act while the father was present. The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, with child protection group Challenging Heights stepping in to support the victim’s medical care.

The organisation has also called for swift action from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), demanding the arrest of both the stepmother and the father for their roles in the abuse.

This case adds to a growing list of child protection failures in Ghana, where domestic abuse against minors often goes unreported or unresolved. Advocates are now urging authorities to strengthen enforcement mechanisms and ensure justice is served swiftly.
