A TikTok preacher known for his fiery online sermons is now behind bars — and facing serious legal consequences.
Kofi Nyarko, popularly known as Reverend Abronoma, has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong District Court after being charged with offensive conduct and publishing false news. The accusations stem from a series of viral videos in which he targeted Prophet Emmanuel Boakye, alias Ogyaba, the General Overseer of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry.
Between January and February, Nyarko posted multiple videos on his official TikTok page, accusing Ogyaba of using sperm for ordination, conducting abortions within his ministry, and being a false prophet. The claims sparked outrage and concern, prompting Ogyaba to file a formal complaint with the Regional CID in Kumasi.
Despite efforts to get Nyarko to retract his statements, the pastor went into hiding. He was eventually arrested on July 19 in Dunkwa-On-Offin. In his caution statement, he admitted to the offences.
The court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Wiafe Adu, has scheduled his next appearance for September 8. Prosecutors say the case reflects growing tensions between digital influence and religious accountability, as social media continues to reshape how spiritual leaders are challenged — and defended.
For now, Reverend Abronoma’s pulpit is a courtroom, and his audience is the law.
