Social media influencer Hayford Boateng, better known as GhKobby, has been ordered into police custody after facing a Yeji Magistrate Court in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, popularly known as Yaa Baby.
The incident, which unfolded on June 10, 2025, in Yeji, has dominated headlines and sparked public outrage as shocking details continue to emerge.
According to witnesses present at the court earlier today, GhKobby was remanded after a brief hearing. Meanwhile, two other individuals arrested alongside him—Kojo Emmanuel, also known online as Obolo, and Michael Boakye—were both granted bail and released.
Shortly after regaining his freedom, Obolo appeared live on TikTok, confirming his release and expressing gratitude while investigations continue.
The three young men had initially traveled to Yeji on what was presumed to be a routine visit. They were in the company of Yaa Baby, riding in an unregistered vehicle. The group was reportedly welcomed into the home of one of the men who previously did his national service in the town.
What began as a friendly visit soon spiraled into tragedy. Eyewitnesses say one of the young men retrieved a firearm from the car and visibly loaded it. Moments later, a gunshot rang out, leaving Yaa Baby fatally wounded.
Following the shooting, alarmed community members, suspicious of possible ritualistic motives, pursued the trio. They were allegedly beaten by the angry crowd before police officers arrived to rescue them and take them into custody.
As investigations continue, GhKobby remains behind bars while public attention intensifies around the case. The incident has not only shocked fans but also revived concerns about violence involving online influencers.
