Z-Summit 2026 is officially underway in Zanzibar, drawing more than 300 international buyers from over 20 countries and 120 exhibitors to the 4th edition of the region’s premier travel and tourism marketplace.

Among the notable delegations at this year’s summit is a strong contingent from the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), led by its President, Yvonne Donkor, who addressed participants at the opening ceremony on February 11, 2026.

“It is an honour and a privilege to stand before you at the 4th edition of the Z-Summit here in beautiful Zanzibar, a destination that perfectly symbolises Africa’s rich heritage, cultural exchange and boundless tourism potential,” Donkor said.

She noted that TOUGHA’s participation was “intentional, strategic and forward-looking,” stressing that the Ghanaian delegation had come “not just to attend another tourism event but to connect, collaborate and co-create the future of African tourism.”

Highlighting evolving travel trends, she observed that modern travellers seek more than destinations.

“Travellers today are not just looking for destinations; they are seeking stories, identity, authenticity and meaningful connections and platforms like the Z-Summit give us the opportunity to package, position and present them to the world together,” she stated.

A key focus of her address was the importance of collaboration across the continent.

“No single country, company or association can fully unlock Africa’s tourism potential alone. But together West Africa and East Africa… we can create multi-destination experiences that keep travellers on the continent longer and deepen their engagement with Africa,” she emphasised.

Yvonne also welcomed the recent launch of Air Tanzania’s direct flight to Ghana, describing it as “more than an aviation milestone; it is a bridge a bridge between West Africa and East Africa.”

She said the new route presents opportunities to develop Ghana Tanzania Zanzibar tour circuits and promote joint marketing initiatives across the regions.
