U.S.-based Ghanaian content creator Twene Jonas has stirred controversy after questioning how popular East Legon socialite and Chez Amis restaurant owner, Big Chezzy, could afford a newly imported Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The vehicle, which reportedly cost around $450,000, was received in Ghana with much fanfare, with videos circulating of Big Chezzy dancing excitedly during the car’s delivery. She claimed to be the first woman in Ghana to own a Rolls-Royce, a moment that drew both admiration and skepticism from social media users.
Among the loudest critics was Jonas, who outright dismissed the suggestion that the lavish purchase was funded through sales from her restaurant business. He argued that selling popular local dishes such as acheke could never generate enough income to finance such an extravagant luxury car.
Using well-known personalities like Tracey Boakye and Hajia 4 Real as references, Jonas suggested that most female celebrities in Ghana who appear wealthy typically have male sponsors or are involved in dubious sources of income.
He implied that success stories tied to business ventures alone are often a smokescreen, stating that the public shouldn’t be fooled by surface-level claims of entrepreneurship.
He maintained that the idea of a woman affording a Rolls-Royce solely from selling food was implausible and advised the public to be more discerning about where such wealth truly comes from.
Meanwhile, Big Chezzy has not publicly addressed Jonas’s comments, but her acquisition of the high-end vehicle continues to generate buzz online, with many debating the real source of her financial power.
