The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the appointment of two journalists, Valentina Ofori-Afriyie and Fred Duhoe, to communications roles at the ministry.

In a brief Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026, the minister congratulated the pair, writing: “Congratulations, Valentina and Fred. Worthy additions to our team. We value the professionalism and dynamism you are both noted for.”

Valentina Ofori-Afriyie, a broadcast journalist with Accra FM, has been appointed Head of Communication for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Passport Administration. In her new role, she will oversee the public image and communications strategy of the Passport Division, a critical unit responsible for passport processing and related services.

Valentina previously served as Deputy Head of Current Affairs at Class Media Group, operators of Class FM, Accra FM and Class TV. Before that, she worked with Radio Gold.

In 2020, she won the Female Best Newscaster of the Year at the RTP Awards. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, a Diploma in Public Relations and a DW Training Certificate in Radio Reporting.

Also appointed is Fred Duhoe, a former broadcast journalist with Citi FM and Channel One TV, who now takes up the position of Media Relations Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He previously worked with Joy News, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group.

Fred is a two-time winner of the Best News Reporter (Television) award at the Ghana Journalists Association Awards, having secured the accolade in 2023 and 2024.
