Universal Merchant Bank has appointed Noble Eduamah as Group Head of Corporate Banking, in a move aimed at strengthening its leadership bench and accelerating growth in its corporate banking division.
The bank said the appointment forms part of a broader strategy to deepen its corporate banking franchise while enhancing customer experience and relationship management across key sectors of the economy.
Mr Eduamah joins UMB with more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, having built a reputation in corporate banking, client coverage and sector-focused leadership across Africa. His expertise spans critical industries such as mining, energy and real estate, areas considered central to Ghana’s economic growth.
Prior to his new role, he served as General Manager and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at New Modern World Company Limited, where he contributed to strategic decision-making and operational leadership. He also held a senior position at United Bank for Africa, where he was Executive and Head of Corporate Banking, as well as Global Head of Mining Business, overseeing client strategies across multiple markets.
His earlier career includes leadership roles at Fidelity Bank Ghana and Stanbic Bank Ghana, where he developed strong expertise in corporate and investment banking, particularly within high-value sectors.
Commenting on the appointment, UMB’s Managing Director, Philip Oti-Mensah, said the move reflects the bank’s commitment to attracting high-calibre talent to drive its long-term strategy.
“Noble’s inclusion in our leadership team reflects our commitment to attracting top-tier talent to drive our strategic ambitions. His deep industry expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and proven track record in corporate banking position him strongly to enhance our corporate banking space and deliver sustained value for our clients,” he said.
Mr Eduamah holds an Executive Master’s degree in Strategic Client Management from the University of Cape Town, an MBA in Banking and Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Administration (Accounting) from Central University. He is also an ACI-certified professional.
The appointment comes as UMB continues to reposition itself within Ghana’s competitive banking sector through a series of leadership changes and operational reforms aimed at improving efficiency and client engagement.
Founded in 1972, the bank has over five decades of experience providing financial services to individuals, businesses and institutions. It has, in recent years, pursued a transformation agenda focused on digital innovation, SME support and strengthening customer relationships.
UMB said the addition of Mr Eduamah to its executive team underscores its ambition to consolidate its position as a trusted partner to corporate clients while delivering innovative, customer-focused financial solutions.
