Ghanaian social media figure Ayisha Modi has reignited her long-standing fallout with dancehall artist Stonebwoy, this time dragging retired footballer Asamoah Gyan into the mix.
In a recent video posted online, Modi accused Stonebwoy of showing deep ingratitude toward Gyan, who reportedly paid for the musician’s crucial knee surgery nearly a decade ago.
According to Modi, Stonebwoy suffered a severe leg injury from an accident earlier in his life, leaving him with a limp and a knee that couldn’t bend due to metal implants used in a reconstruction.
Years later, the artist traveled abroad for surgery to correct the problem, and it was Asamoah Gyan who quietly footed the medical bill.
Modi claimed that despite the life-changing support, Stonebwoy never made an effort to thank Gyan — not publicly or privately — until nearly ten years later.
She said Gyan eventually became upset over the silence, reportedly reaching out to her several times to encourage the musician to acknowledge the help.
According to her, it wasn’t until Gyan began ignoring Stonebwoy’s calls that he finally recognized the footballer’s gesture.
Modi added that this pattern of ungratefulness wasn’t unique to Gyan, stating that she, too, had been treated the same way by Stonebwoy despite her years of support and promotion.
Her ongoing criticism of the musician stems from what she sees as repeated neglect and disrespect.
Though Stonebwoy eventually acknowledged Gyan’s contribution in 2023 via a social media post, publicly thanking him seven years after the surgery, Modi insists it came too late and only after pressure built up behind the scenes.
The issue has triggered fresh online debate, with fans of both Modi and Stonebwoy clashing over loyalty, gratitude, and the blurry lines between personal support and public obligation.
