The debate

The motion for the debate challenged participants to examine how “Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in the Commonwealth truly translates into real economic opportunities for its university graduates.”

At the forefront of the UniMAC’s winning performance were three students, led by Titus Owusu Darko, a level 400 Journalism student, who delivered the principal speech opposing the motion, and Precious Akos Agrobesa, a level 400 Development Communication student who reinforced every argument with precise evidence and persuasive insights.

The third contestant, Dorothy Nkansah Agyapomaa, is a level 300 Public Relations student.

Together, they commanded the floor with confidence, sharp reasoning and seamless teamwork, keeping both judges and audience captivated throughout the intense rounds of debate.

After three rounds of intense deliberation, UniMAC’s team stood out for their meticulously researched arguments, persuasive delivery and confidence.

Their poise, clarity and ability to engage both judges and audience earned them the top prize, cementing their position as the competition’s overall winners.

Prize

For their outstanding performance, UniMAC received a cash prize of GH¢10,000, a commemorative plaque and medals of excellence.

The judges commended all participating universities for demonstrating strong research, critical reasoning and confidence on the parliamentary floor, and encouraged students to continue engaging in debates and academic discourse that promoted critical thinking and national development.
