An aspiring National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ismaela Ibrahim, has called for unity, restraint and strategic cohesion within the party.
He said a decisive victory for the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, would depend on the full inclusion, mobilisation and cooperation of all members and stakeholders.
Mr Ibrahim, who is also the Director of Operations for Dr Bawumia, cautioned that the aftermath of the primaries must not be allowed to degenerate into division or recrimination.
Democratic choice
In an interaction with journalists, Mr Ibrahim emphasised that all party actors, including the 87 Members of Parliament, exercised their legitimate democratic rights in supporting candidates of their choice and must, therefore, be respected.
“Such participation should be respected, not penalised,” he stated.
Factionalism
He warned against tendencies of victimisation, vengeance and factional vendettas, describing them as detrimental to the party’s collective objective of returning to power.
“At this critical juncture, the party must rise above actions that threaten its unity.
Our objective is clear — to reconstitute a formidable and united front capable of reclaiming political power,” he said.
Focus on 2028
Mr Ibrahim noted that electoral success required collective effort, discipline and coordination, rather than individual ambition.
“Victory is neither accidental nor individualistic.
It is the product of shared responsibility, disciplined coordination and unwavering solidarity,” he added.
He further cautioned that persistent internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances in the next general election.
Reconciliation
Mr Ibrahim, who has declared his intention to contest the position of National Organiser, urged members to embrace reconciliation and renewed commitment to the party’s cause.
“This is a moment for reconciliation, strategic alignment and renewed dedication to the common cause.
Together, we stand.
Through unity, we prevail,” he said.
