The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), formerly C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT UTAS), has officially announced a change in its institutional name following an amendment to its establishing Act by the Parliament of Ghana.
In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar on March 16, 2026, the university seeks to inform its community and stakeholders that Parliament amended the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences Act, 2019 (Act 1000) in December 2025.
The amended legislation, which has now been gazetted, formerly redesignates the institution as the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) under Act 1161 (as amended).
According to the circular, the change takes immediate effect and requires members of the university community and stakeholders to update all official records and communications to reflect the new name.
“All members of the University Community and our valued stakeholders are hereby requested to update all official documents, correspondence, and letterheads to reflect our new name,” the statement said.
The notice further directed that existing and future materials, including reports, official letters, memoranda, and digital templates, must be revised accordingly to ensure consistency with the institution’s new designation.
The university expressed appreciation to staff, students, and stakeholders for their cooperation during the transition.
The circular was signed by Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of University Relations, on behalf of the Registrar.
The notification was copied to members of the UTAS Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, heads of departments, administrative and professional heads, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), GRASAG, and the media, among others.
