Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is the Vice President of Ghana

The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women and promoting inclusive development in Ghana.

In a post shared on her X page on Monday, January 12, 2026, she reflected on a meeting with Women in Engineering Ghana, highlighting the vital role women play in driving the nation’s progress across all sectors.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also encouraged Women in Engineering Ghana to reflect, strategise, and rethink approaches to problem-solving.

“National development requires us to conceptualise differently and to ensure that progress is inclusive,” she noted.

She emphasised that women’s voices are crucial in shaping national decisions.

“Women must make their voices heard at every level of policy formulation. Fear must never be a barrier to participation or leadership. Our insights matter, and they must shape the decisions that affect our lives and our nation,” she stated.

The Vice President further highlighted the importance of building the capacity of the next generation.

“I added that it was important to avoid the early compartmentalization of children into narrow disciplines. Instead, we must build a strong foundation through liberal education, equipping young people with critical thinking skills that allow them to adapt as the world and its demands evolve rapidly,” she added.
