Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will attend the 78th Anniversary celebration of the Christiansburg shooting as the guest of honour.
The event will take place at the Nationalism Park, near the Accra Sports Stadium, Osu, on February 28, 2026.
“As Ghana marks 78 years of remembrance, we honour the brave ex-servicemen whose sacrifice shaped our nation’s march toward freedom,” the Jubilee House said in a statement.
On 28th February 1948, at the historic Christiansburg Crossroads, three World War II veterans, Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey were shot while peacefully demanding their rightful benefits.
Their courage ignited a national awakening that ultimately paved the way for Ghana’s independence.
