In light of the recent legal challenges posed by rapper Falz, activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has firmly denied any allegations of defamation directed at his father, the esteemed human rights lawyer Femi Falana.
This development follows Falz’s issuance of a stringent 24-hour ultimatum, in which he demanded the removal of all statements he considers defamatory.
Falz has publicly asserted that he did not reach out to social media personality Bobrisky, nor did VDM attempt to contact him prior to disseminating what Falz claims are false accusations, including implications regarding his sexual orientation.
In a robust defense, VDM’s legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, has issued a statement articulating that VDM holds his father in the highest regard and categorically rejects any claims of defamation.
According to VDM, the release of audio recordings was intended to instigate a comprehensive investigation by the appropriate authorities into allegations made by Bobrisky.
He maintains that certain aspects of these allegations have already been corroborated by Falz.
Adeyanju’s letter highlights, “Our client denies defaming Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria and globally recognised human rights activist, but asserts that he only published the said communication with a view to getting the relevant agencies, and even your client, to initiate a thorough investigation into the far reaching allegations made by Mr. Okuneye in the said voice recording, especially as some element of the voice recording has been confirmed by Mr. Folarin Falana in his solicitor’s letter of September 25, 2024….”
This ongoing situation underscores the complex intersections of celebrity, activism, and legal accountability, as both parties navigate the repercussions of their public statements and the broader implications for their reputations.
