Vincent Otse, who is popularly referred to as VeryDarkMan, was seen at the Lagos High Court attending the hearing related to the defamation lawsuit filed against him by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana and his son, Folarin, famously known as Falz.
It is worth mentioning that VeryDarkMan had previously surfaced in a leaked video allegedly created by Idris Okuneye, more commonly known as Bobrisky, making certain remarks about the perceived involvement of Falana in Bobrisky’s purported attempt to secure amnesty during his time in prison custody.
Subsequently, following this incident, the Falanas took legal action against the defendant, initiating separate lawsuits and seeking N500 million in damages each for a video that he shared on his social media platforms, accusing them of receiving N10 million from Bobrisky to obstruct justice.
In their legal petitions, both the father and son emphasized that the defendant knowingly disseminated unverified and false information, with the intent to harm their reputation recklessly.
Furthermore, they highlighted that the contentious publication continues to garner attention on the defendant’s online channels, thereby perpetuating the harm to their reputation as long as the content remains accessible on the internet.
During the interim judgment on the ex parte motion filed alongside the main lawsuit, Justice Dawodu instructed VeryDarkMan, his representatives, and any affiliates to remove the defamatory content, including videos and remarks, posted on September 24, 2024, from all his social media platforms.
Moreover, the judge explicitly prohibited VeryDarkMan from further circulating any defamatory material targeting Falana, underlining the imperative nature of complying with the pre-action protocol of the court for resolving such matters effectively.
“The defendant, his agents, and privies are hereby restrained from further releasing, publishing, or circulating any defamatory videos/comments about the applicant and to bring down the defamatory video/comments about the Applicant published on September 24, 2024, on all his online social media handles/pages pending compliance with the pre-action protocol of this court.”
