Highlife stalwart Adomako Nyamekye, known for mentoring the late Daddy Lumba in his early music journey, says life has become spiritually intense since the musician’s passing. He believes the legendary performer continues to reach out to him in dreams, leaving him restless and awake most nights.
Nyamekye was seen at the Kumasi High Court on October 31, 2025, where he monitored proceedings in the ongoing dispute over who should be recognized as Daddy Lumba’s legal spouse. According to him, his presence is motivated by what he interprets as guidance from the late singer, whose spirit he claims is determined to avoid any controversy around his funeral.
The court appearance forms part of the wider legal struggle involving Akosua Serwaa, who is seeking to be formally declared the only surviving wife of the musician. Necessary documents are currently being filed ahead of a Case Management Conference scheduled for November 14, 2025.
Just days earlier, on October 28, 2025, attempts to halt the planned funeral were rejected. A ruling by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur gave full authority to the family’s Abusuapanin to proceed with preparations for the final rites on December 6, 2025, in Kumasi.
Nyamekye, often regarded as a father figure to the late artist, expressed optimism that the family conflict will be resolved fairly. He also reacted to moves by Ernestina Fosu invoking the sacred oath of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, saying traditional authority should intervene to ensure the necessary customs are performed.
As the legal battle continues, the veteran musician insists he will remain close to the case — guided, he believes, by the enduring presence of Daddy Lumba.
