Renowned actor Joseph Osei, popularly known as Wayoosi, has released a campaign song in support of National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
The song, titled “Nana Adobia”, is a musical plea to Ghanaians to give Mahama a second chance to lead the country.
Wayoosi’s musical debut is a departure from his usual acting roles, but the actor’s passion for politics shines through in his lyrics.
He sings about the unfulfilled promises of the current administration and contrasts them with Mahama’s achievements during his tenure.
But what inspired Wayoosi’s sudden switch from actor to musician and political advocate? According to sources, Mahama’s personal support during Wayoosi’s health struggles played a significant role.
It will be recalled that years ago, veteran Ghanaian actor Wayoosi disclosed that former President John Dramani Mahama once offered to fly him outside the country for a kidney transplant.
According to Wayoosi, in 2016, Mahama learned through the news that he had suffered kidney failure.
Without hesitation, the then-sitting president promptly sent one of his ministers to settle his hospital bills.
But that wasn’t all – Mahama also graciously assured Wayoosi that if his condition didn’t improve, he would personally ensure that he receives a kidney transplant abroad.
This kind gesture has left an indelible mark on Wayoosi’s heart, and he has never forgotten Mahama’s selfless act of kindness.
Wayoosi has publicly praised Mahama’s accessibility and commitment to the people, and his song aims to rally support for the former president.
The campaign song is set to officially release on July 23 across all digital platforms, and Wayoosi hopes it will encourage Ghanaians to consider Mahama’s track record as they head to the polls.
Will Wayoosi’s musical plea make a difference in the upcoming elections? Only time will tell.
