During a high-stakes meeting today between Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II and the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shocking allegations were made regarding the recent killings in Sampa.
Dormaahene leveled a serious accusation, claiming that Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is directly responsible for the tragic deaths in Sampa.
The explosive revelation came during discussions between Dormaahene and Dr. Bawumia, raising eyebrows and sending shockwaves through political and traditional circles alike.
The precise basis for Dormaahene’s accusation remains unclear, but he explained that there was already a chief in Sampa but Otumfuo decided to enstool another which has led to a dispute in the land.
He said he has nothing against the new chief enstooled by Asantehene because he has been his friend since 1986 but what Otumfuo did was not right.
According to the tradition, Asantehene has jurisdiction over some towns in the former Brong Ahafo Region, of which Sampa is part. This has been the bone of contention with some claiming it should not be so since he is in the Ashanti Region.
Following certain chieftaincy issues in the area, Henry Quartey, the Minister of Interior, placed a curfew on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, acting on the advise of the Bono Regional Security Council and via Executive Instrument.
The curfew time is from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am each day effective Thursday, April 18, 2024, until further notice.
