Tensions ran high yesterday at the Abundant Life Assemblies of God Church in Bohyen-Adumanu, Kumasi, as a group of members protested the induction of a new pastor. The protesters, unhappy with the decision to appoint a new leader, clashed with church officials and security personnel.

Despite the chaos, the head of the church in the Ashanti Region proceeded with the induction ceremony, which was attended by armed security men. The move was seen as a bid to maintain order and ensure the safety of those present.

The protesters, however, remained defiant, expressing their displeasure with the decision and demanding a reversal. The standoff created a tense atmosphere, with some members threatening to leave the church if their concerns were not addressed.

The incident has raised questions about the leadership and decision-making processes within the church. While officials have yet to comment on the matter, it is clear that the issue has struck a chord with the congregation.

The situation remains fluid, with many calling for a peaceful resolution to the impasse. As the church navigates this challenging period, its members and leaders are urged to prioritize dialogue and understanding.

As the chaos unfolded, social media erupted with reactions. “My decision to stay away from religion was personal, but every day, I find more reasons that prove I was never wrong.”

Others noted, “They could’ve used this same energy to demand developments from their leaders. Religion will be the downfall of Africa.”

Some commented, “Men of God are not forced on people, people don’t also choose men of God. So now that they’re fighting and God himself is quiet, how can they resolve this?”

Others expressed disappointment, “Church goers not Christians… the church should be closed down… none of the members have learned any lesson from all the preaching.”

The incident has raised questions about the leadership and decision-making processes within the church. Some commented, “The police were called in to restore order, but they seem overwhelmed. This is a church dispute, not a national security issue.”

Members of the church also expressed their disappointment and concern, “Our church keeps sinking every day… what is all this? May God forgive us. Our church needs leadership and the fear of God, even among the pastors… this is becoming worse.”
