Students and teachers at Asuafu R/C Primary School in the Tain District of the Bono Region were met with a shocking and disturbing sight on their return to school after a long weekend. An unknown individual had defecated on the chalkboard in the Basic 5 classroom, deliberately spreading the waste across the board.
The heinous act halted lessons for the affected students, who were left stunned and disgusted by the sight. The Headmaster and some Basic 5 students took it upon themselves to clean and wash the board, restoring some sense of normalcy to the classroom.
Regrettably, this incident is not an isolated one. Similar cases have been reported at the school, with unknown persons defecating and leaving feces under students’ desks. The school authorities are struggling to address the issue due to the school building’s poor structure, which allows individuals to enter classrooms without using the door.
The incidents have raised concerns about the safety and sanitation of the learning environment, with calls for urgent action to address the situation. Parents and teachers are demanding improved security measures and a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators.
In a video online, the students are seen together with some staff or teachers trying to clean the board with water with students holding brooms.
